We describe the CSS/Financial Aid PROFILE® application, New York State’s unique financial aid program-TAP, and federal grant and loan programs. This is an excellent time for parents of seniors as well as juniors to begin planning. We welcome questions at the conclusion of the program. No registration required.

Teen Movie: If I Stay

Wednesday, November 26th 6-8pm
This is the year of sad teen movies! Join us for a viewing of the adaptation of Gayle Forman’s emotional book If I Stay. You can decide which is better-the movie or the book. And don’t forget to bring your tissues for this tearjerker!

Craft Buddies

Mondays, November 3rd, 10th, 17th & 24th  3:15-4:15pm
Volunteer to help young children create fun fall craft projects!  Community service will be awarded.

Smiles for Soldiers

Wednesday, November 5th 3:30-4:30pm
Nearly 20% of service members in Iraq and Afghanistan experience acute stress, depression, and/or anxiety. Getting thank-you notes has a positive impact on soldiers' moods. In collaboration with DoSomething.org we will make and send thank you cards to deployed soldiers to let them know we appreciate their service. All materials provided and community service awarded.

Pillows for Charity

Wednesday, November 12th 7-8pm
Make a fuzzy, fleece pillow from scratch! No sewing involved! Pillows will be donated to Ronald McDonald house in New Hyde Park. Community service certificate will be given to all participants! 

Dog Treats for Charity

Tuesday, December 2nd 7-8pm
Unfortunately we can't bring home every dog that lives in the shelter, but we can brighten their day with tasty treats!  Join Mrs. Kathy to make homemade dog treats from scratch using cookie cutters to make pet-friendly shapes. We will donate them to a local animal shelter. Community service certificate will be given to all participants! 
(PEANUT BUTTER PRODUCTS USED.)

CHOCOLATE COVERED OREOS
Tuesday, October 7th 7pm
We will have fun dipping and decorating Oreos with chocolate and assorted fall treats! All participants will bring these delicious treats home in a bakery box.

KARAOKE BOOK RELEASE PARTY
Tuesday, October 21st 7pm
Join us to celebrate the newest book release by our favorite YA author, Jen Calonita! We will sing our hearts out karaoke style to honor the musical storyline of Side Effects.  We will also have raffles, snacks and of course a chat with Jen  Calonita! Please sign up in advance.

BBB CLUB…SPOOKY SESSION
Friday, October 24th, 7-8:30pm
The Beach Bag Book Club continues into fall with a spooky treat! Join us at the N. MERRICK PUBLIC LIBRARY to meet author Micol Ostow and talk about her new terrifying book, Amity. We'll be meeting after dark, after hours. Bring your flashlight and be prepared for all sorts of haunting fun! We will have prizes, snacks, raffles, and a book sale.

HALLOWEEN COOKIE POPS
Monday, October 27th, 7-8pm
Create your own cookie treats with frosting, candy and cookies and bring them home in a decorated cookie box.

Teen Read Week

This Teen Read Week (Oct. 12-18), we dare teens to read for the fun of it! TRW is a time to celebrate reading for fun and to take advantage of reading in all its forms - books and magazines, e-books, audiobooks and more — and become regular library users. Check out these fun events we’re having to celebrate!

VISION JOURNAL CRAFT
Tuesday, October 14th 3pm
A vision board is a collage of pictures of the goals and dreams you want to attract into your life. We will decorate journals with old magazines and pictures of what we would like to achieve for ourselves this year! All materials supplied.
TEEN MOVIE: TEEN WITCH
Wednesday, October 15th 4pm
Louise is not very popular at her high school. Then she learns that she's descended from the witches of Salem and has inherited their powers. At first she uses them to get back at the girls and teachers who teased her and to win the heart of the handsome football captain. But soon she has doubts if it's right to 'cheat' her way to popularity. Rated PG-13.
