OCTOBER/NOVEMBER PROGRAMS

Book Buddies Are you a teen who likes reading to young children? If so, sign up to become a Book Buddy Volunteer at the Adult Reference Desk. Mondays, November 3rd, 10th, 17th and 24th from 3:45-4:30 p.m

Knit ‘N Sit Join Mrs. Tymecki and Mrs. Stack to make quilt squares which will be donated to Project Linus, a charity that provides blankets to sick children. Beginner and experienced knitters are welcome. Knit, socialize and earn community service hours too! Knit ‘N Sit will meet Tuesdays, November 4th, 18th and December 9th from 4:30-5:30p.m.

Our chess club will meet on the following Tuesdays: October 7th and 21st and November 4th and 18th. New players welcome! Register on any night the club meets.

Page Turners: A Book and a Movie Thursday, November 6th 6 – 8:30pm Enjoy discussing Penelope with our group, then watch the movie that was inspired by the book. Be sure to pick up a copy of the book when you register. Open to grades 6th - 9th

Manga Swap Friday, November 7th 4-5p.m. We all know recycling helps rid the world of waste, so why not recycle your Manga? Come and bring any Anime/Manga you would like to trade or swap.

How to Beat the High Cost of College Tuesday, November 18th from 7:00 -8:30 p.m. Barry Fox, a college financial aid expert, will explain the college financial aid process. Find out how to get your share of the billions of dollars in grants and loans that are available for student financial aid. Learn to accurately fill out the federal and state financial aid forms. Participants will be shown step-by-step strategies for filling out the government forms, planning a student needs analysis and how to negotiate with college financial aid offices. Also discussed will be divorced and separated parental situations, independent students and the best free web sites for scholarship search. Registration is not required and all are welcome to attend. Manga Club Friday, November 21st 3:30 – 5p.m. No registration necessary. New members welcome!

COMING IN DECEMBER… Glam Nails Tuesday, December 30th 7 – 8:30pm Make your nails look fabulous with help from a licensed nail technician. Learn how to manicure, decorate and take care of your nails. Every participant goes home with their own nail care kit. A $5 materials fee will be collected at registration.

Twilight Party Thursday, December 11 at 6:30p.m. Attention all fans of the Twilight Saga! Go to see movie Twilight (in theaters November 21) or read the book, and come to share your opinion about "the world's most popular vampire novelist", Stephenie Meyer. We'll raffle a Twilight Soundtrack CD and Twilight book set! Refreshments will be served. The party will be held at the Merrick Library Wing.
